The majority of our Saturdays are 100% low-key. They mostly consist of netflix marathons, napping, and eating more than we should. They are wonderful Saturdays...but, you know, not wild and crazy or anything like that. But this Saturday happened to be very full and very special. There was a lovely birthday party (one filled with sweet friends and a pot luck dinner), a UFC fight (we think Ronda Rousey is pretty darn attractive/scary), and a fancy ball at the Aquarium.
After a few hours at the birthday party in the afternoon, we zoomed home to get all dolled up for the Barrister's Ball (a.k.a Law School Prom). I was super excited to don my favorite frock (one I found at Time Warp a few years ago--hot pink lace, boat neck, bow, love) and I even got some new shoes for the event (they were blue and wonderful and exactly what I was looking for--thanks, Target!). And James looked just perfect in his suit and skinny tie.
So after getting pretty and taking a few preliminary pictures, we headed downtown to the Aquarium. Like, The Aquarium. With all of the fish and everything! We were pretty flipping jazzed about the venue. Sting rays, turtles, jelly fish, sharks, yay! The penguins and otters were sleeping, but we did see some sea horses (Jim's favorite). It was so fun to explore. We think this is the best venue for this kind of event. It just gave the whole evening a kind of dreamy quality.
After having a quick look at the exhibits, we hit up the photo booth for some silly picture taking. It maybe took us an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to get the thing to work (ooohhh...you push that big, huge button? woopsies), but it was such fun once we got it going!
Next we spent some time visiting with lovely law school ladies and gentlemen, and exploring the Aquarium a bit more. It was really nice to see everyone all dressed up and in a totally non-school-y environment. I had so much fun introducing James, and just mingling about. It was just plain fun. Plus everyone looked super sassy.
We had to sit down towards the end of the night (I maybe couldn't feel my toes that much?)...but luckily we found the perfect place to rest. Right in front of this beautiful tank:
romantic, right?
I loved this event. I loved having Jim by my side the whole night. And I just really love being that guy's wife.

AH, i love this girlie; you two are so adorable! You look so pretty in your pink dress and blue shoes--very vintage (love it!)
