back to school
Its that time of year again...back to school! Now that I officially have all of my grades (yayayay!), I can close the book on my first semester at Loyola and welcome my second with open arms. It has kind of been a weird first week back (3 out of my 6 classes were cancelled!) but it has been all sorts of exciting, too. I'm taking torts II, property II, obligations II, civil procedure II, ethics, and moot court. I am super jazzed for moot court...but also a bit intimidated! It should be interesting. I am also taking a little French class every Tuesday and Thursday, and hooray for that! It was a lot of fun to pull out my rusty French in today's first get together. There are only five of us in the class (including the dean of the law school...eek!), and it is mostly conversation. It is perfect! I haven't spoken French since I graduated! So, anyways. Yay for spring semester!
To celebrate the start of the term, James and I got some lunch yesterday at Fresh Bar in uptown. Oh. My. Gosh. Stop whatever you're doing, and drive to New Orleans, and go to Fresh Bar. Or don't. Because its basically a salad bar, and you can totally make their deliciousness at home if you are industrious enough (which we aren't, obviously). I got the Louisiana Fav: spinach, avocado, strawberries, pecans, dried cranberries, blue cheese, and a citrus vinaigrette. It is what dreams are made of. James got the Italian: mixed greens, hearts of palm, onions, cherry tomatoes, chickpeas, celery, artichoke hearts, parmesan and pepperoni. After lunch, we headed over to Prytania to visit our neighbors' soon to be opened bakery, Manhattan Jack. It looks so great!!! We can't wait to officially try it out (they open tomorrow, new orleans people!), but Jack gave us a little coffee treat as a sneak peek. My mocha latte was just how I like it...not too sweet, but still rich and foamy. Can't wait to become a regular.
It has been dreary, dreary with mountains of rain for the past couple of days. To combat the grayness of it all, I wore as many colors as I could today.
And that was pretty fun.
But, needless to say, I'm hoping for a weekend filled with sunshine!
oh, and, you see those piles of clothes and whatnot? that would be the remnants of our northern excursion...just hanging out on the floor in our study/gym. so, yeah. the unpacking is going pretty great...clearly. :)
